Open letter case or pocketbook of dark brown leather showing signs of wear and fading, with four leather loops two each attached at intervening intervals to the top and bottom edges, which when lined up could possibly hold a writing implement or serve as a closure, and a green silk loop on the middle right edge. The case has a black fabric lining and two inner compartments, each with a black fabric panel containing a somewhat idealized depiction in multi-colored embroidery of scenes made with tight flat stitches. The upper panel contains an oval shaped, multi-hued green lawn with a three dimensionally rendered beige and brown urn on a pedestal flanked by two flowering bushes, one with pink and peach roses, the other with blue flowers with pink and white centers, and a slender, arching weeping willow tree in shades of green with a slender brown trunk arcing over the urn and flower bushes. The bottom panel contains a prominent wreath of embroidered flowers and leaves of various sizes, colors and types encircling golden embroidered initials J.B. in curvy cursive script with a small four point diamond punctuation shape to the right of the B.
