Panel Fragment (Switzerland)

This is a Panel fragment. It is dated 1550–1600 and we acquired it in 1932. Its medium is cotton on linen and its technique is couching for linear outlines and dense areas, chevron stitch on parallel straight stitches, buttonhole filling in the manner of simple looping, an interlaced combination of buttonhole or looped stitches, chain and ladder chain, herringbone stitches on pla. It is a part of the Textiles department.
