Print, Design for a Title Page

This is a Print. It was print maker: Jean-Laurent Legeay. It is dated ca. 1740 and we acquired it in 1920. Its medium is etching on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This object was donated by Advisory Council. It is credited Purchased for the Museum by the Advisory Council.

It has the following markings

Watermark: pending (see cat. card for sketch)

It is inscribed

Printed on it: "RECUEIL / de differentes Etudes / de Testes / Gravées d'apres les Desseins / d'Excellens Maitres des / differentes Ecolles"; signed, bottom left, on a stone slab: "J Legeau inv. Et. Sculp." Bottom Margin: Another signature of Le Geau's is hardly visible, and the address of a publisher deleted. Instead: "A Paris chés Le Pere et Avaulez rue S. Jacques."
