Darning Sampler (Netherlands)

This is a Darning sampler. It is dated 1711 and we acquired it in 1937. Its medium is silk embroidery, linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in running (pattern darning) and cross stitches on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
