Hanging (Spain), 17th century

This is a Hanging. It is dated 17th century and we acquired it in 1938. Its medium is silk, metal and its technique is plain weave foundation with 3-span floats of 2 continuous supplementary wefts bound by the foundation warp in plain weave alignment. the white silk supplementary weft patterns by moving from front to back. the metal supplementary weft is every other patte. It is a part of the Textiles department.
