Sample Blanket (USA)

This is a Sample blanket. It is dated mid-20th century and we acquired it in 1968. Its medium is cotton, lurex. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Harvey Smith.

A repeating white stencil flower and leaves pattern on a gold background. A zigzag darkened pattern in light brown goes through the entire work. There are negative parallegram spaces inbetween the pattern which have a lightened effect. The entire piece appears to shine with golden light.

A custom blue color chart on silk from Pantone in a grid pattern with water stains in each center. Each square is a different shade of blue, including white to black saturation. Color signifiers are finely printed at the top and base of the silk, above the colored grids.
