Shawl (France)

This is a Shawl. It is dated 1920s and we acquired it in 1969. Its medium is silk, metallic thread and its technique is 3/1 twill patterned by a metal-wrapped supplementary weft bound by the foundation warp in various ways; two colors, black and green, seem to have been applied after the fabric was woven. It is a part of the Textiles department.
