Mourning Sampler (England)

This is a Mourning sampler. It is dated ca. 1800 and we acquired it in 1974. Its medium is silk embroidery with paint on silk foundation and its technique is embroidered in stem stitch on plain weave; hands and faces are painted. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Mrs. H.P. Davison. It is credited Gift of Mrs. H.P. Davison.
