Sarong (Thailand)

This is a Sarong. It is dated 19th–20th century and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is cotton and its technique is plain weave; application of mordants and resist by hand held implement for reds and blues; yellow probably supplied directly by brush; technique very close to if not the same for "chintz" dyed in india. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Jacques Mohr. It is credited Gift of Jacques Mohr.
