Print, Interior of the Drury Land Theater, London
This is a Print. It was designed by Augustus Charles Pugin and Thomas Rowlandson and published by Ackermann’s. It is dated 1808 and we acquired it in 1977. Its medium is etching with color aquatint, hand colored. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
The Drury Land is the oldest London theater still in use. It has gone through numerous remodellings and the interior was never completed as planned by the architect Henry Holland.
It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Freund.
