Poster, Voices of East Harlem/Delaney Bonnie and Friends

This is a Poster. It was designed by Norman Orr and printed by Tea Lautrec Litho. It is dated 1970 and we acquired it in 1979. Its medium is offset lithograph on white wove paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Posters produced in the 1970s for The Fillmore, the San Francisco music venue made famous by Bill Graham, were renowned for their psychedelic styling. Graham commissioned local artists to design the posters, which were printed regularly for a constantly changing roster of weekly performances. The hand-drawn style of this lithographic poster, designed for a holiday concert series in December 1970, is characteristic of the work of designer Norman Orr, who drew the central image after Rembrandt van Rijn’s 1657 painting Christ with Arms Folded.

This object was donated by Mr. Leslie Schreyer and Mrs. Alice Schreyer. It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie J. Schreyer.
