Square (Italy)

This is a Square. It was made by Scuola Ricami Ranieri di Sorbello and agent: Romayne Roberts. It is dated ca. 1920 and we acquired it in 1979. Its medium is linen, metallic thread and its technique is plain weave foundation; cut fabric embellished by buttonhole stitch over metallic cord pulled up regularly to form a loop; also single loops of chain stitch using the metallic cord; foundation cut after buttonhole and looped outline completed. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Gift of Marchese Marilene Ranieri di Sorbello.
