Wall Pocket (Germany)

This is a Wall pocket. It is dated late 17th century and we acquired it in 1950. Its medium is silk, metal and its technique is applique of painted silks and painted paper plus embroidery on brown silk satin; couched gold-wrapped silk and strips of gilt foil plus attached gilt spangles. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Gift of Richard C. Greenleaf Esq. in memory of his mother, Adeline Emma Greenleaf.
