Textile (Italy)

This is a Textile. It is dated 1750–1800 and we acquired it in 1955. Its medium is silk, metal and its technique is satin damasse with brocading in metal-wrapped silk; damasse (7&1 satin plus plain weave (grey) with discontinuous supplementary wefts (two metallics) bound on the front in 1/3 twill. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by L. Boyd Hatch and Anne McQuarrie Hatch. It is credited Gift of L. Boyd and Annie McQuarrie Hatch.
