Drawing, Design for Memorial to a Dog

This is a Drawing. It was created by Giulio Romano and made for (as the client) Federico Gonzaga II and attributions: Francesco Salviati. It is dated 1531–34 and we acquired it in 1958. Its medium is pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash on off-white laid paper hinged to thick laid paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This object was donated by Mr. Hugh Cassel. It is credited Gift of Hugh Cassel.

Its dimensions are

12.3 x 15.9 cm (4 13/16 x 6 1/4 in.) Mat: 35.6 x 45.7 cm (14 x 18 in.)

It has the following markings

Watermark: Inverted triangle attached to R, somewhat similar to Heawood 3066.
