Purse (Germany)

This is a Purse. It is dated mid-18th century and we acquired it in 1959. Its medium is silk and metal thread embroidery on silk foundation and its technique is embroidered in stem, satin, padded satin and knotting stitches with attached coils of gilt foil and gilt wire on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Gift of Irwin Untermyer.
