Allegory of America Stove Tile

This is a Stove Tile. It is dated late 17th century and we acquired it in 1960. Its medium is glazed earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Estate of James Hazen Hyde. It is credited Gift of the Estate of James Hazen Hyde.

Intricately designed prosthetic leg cover made out of digitally fabricated abs plastic, polyurethane straps and metal hooks. The foot, in a dark gray color, is attached to a decorative leg. From bottom to top are the following: etching of a turtle in the center with its head tilting to the right, symmetrical swirling waves with two smaller turtles on the opposite side and an illustration of the Yin and yang symbols with rays in blue and red. The design ends with a pink metallic plate on the top portion.
