Fragment (Peru)

This is a Fragment. It is dated 700–900 and we acquired it in 1949. Its medium is cotton, wool and its technique is plain weave, predominantly warp-face foundation; pattern is discontinuous supplementary wefts interlacing weft-faced plain weave on grouped warps; sides both intact, ends cut; "reinforced tapestry". It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Museum purchase through gift of Erskine Hewitt.
