Sampler (Mexico)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Maria de la Luz Garcia. It is dated May 11, 1852 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is wool, silk and its technique is embroidered in satin, stem, knot, cross, buttonhole, chain, herringbone, feather, and running stitches with withdrawn element work and needle made fillings on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
