Sampler (Italy)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Carolina Pieraccini. It is dated early 20th century and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and mercerized cotton embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in cross and back stitches on a plain weave foundation; fringe on all four sides secured by whip stitch. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
