Bedcover (England)

This is a Bedcover. It is dated 1720–40 and we acquired it in 1993. Its medium is cotton foundation, embroidery in long staple wool (crewel), silk, linen, foil-wrapped silk and its technique is embroidery on plain weave foundation using satin, stem, knot and running stitches in wool; stem stitch in silk; and backstitch in linen; accents of foil-wrapped silk. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Cora Ginsburg. It is credited Gift of Cora Ginsburg in memory of Jean Mailey.
