Bright Star Flashlight

This is a flashlight. It is dated ca. 1990 and we acquired it in 1993. Its medium is injection-molded plastic. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Bright Star pioneered the high impact injection-molded plastic flashlight in the late 1930s, leading to the development of standards for explosion-proof handheld lighting products. After experiencing success with these products during World War II, Bright Star expanded its flashlight business to become a leading industrial flashlight producer. This flashlight, model 2618, was part of their later industrial line, and a variant is still made today.

This object was donated by Max Pine. It is credited Gift of Barbara and Max Pine.
