Sidewall (France)

This is a sidewall. It was manufactured by J. Grantil Company. It is dated 1928–29 and we acquired it in 2010. Its medium is machine printed on paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.

Large-scale flowers are created by the addition of white highlights on the unprinted paper stock. These sit in stark contrast to the brightly colored foliage and a green-spotted ground, as if viewing a floral garden from above. The mix of motifs rendered in contrasting neutral and strong colors creates a bold graphic.

This object was donated by Carolle Thibaut-Pomerantz. It is credited Gift of Carolle Thibaut-Pomerantz.
