Sports Cuff, 2016

This is a Sports cuff. It was overseen (as design director) by Jörg Hartmann and manufactured by H. Stoll AG & Co. KG and design team member: Karen Klabunde, Petra Meyer and Francesco Collura. It is dated 2016 and we acquired it in 2017. Its medium is virgin wool, lycra, polyamide, polyester and its technique is knitted. It is a part of the Textiles department.

Stoll, a leader in knit technology for over 140 years, created the Performance+ collection of concept athletic apparel to showcase the capabilities of their state-of-the-art machinery. This pair of sport cuffs is knitted to shape with a goring technique. Designed to protect the athlete's palm in the event of a fall, it uses abrasion-resistant aramid fiber. A knitted in NFC chip in the right cuff activates the strobe light on a cell phone in the pocket at the back waistband of the running tights for active visibility. The left cuff has an integrated opening for a smart watch or other monitoring device.

This object was donated by H. Stoll AG & Co. KG. It is credited Gift of H. Stoll AG & Co. KG.
