Flyer Necklace, 2010
This is a necklace. It is dated 2010. Its medium is cut and drilled elm wood, cord. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Prühl’s organically conceived shapes are carved out of six pieces of elm wood left in their natural state. Carefully balanced and deceptively simple, her abstract impressions are drawn from nature but achieve great formal clarity whether in wood, gold, aluminium, or stainless steel.
It is credited Promised gift to the Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
