Roofs Brooch
This is a brooch. It was designed by Annamaria Zanella. It is dated 2002 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is engraved and lacquered gold, iron. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Zanella said of this brooch, that it “. . . seems like a card game, an architecture realized with gold slabs, remember[ing] a roof-top view on a sunny day.” She achieves this with a textured gold that she then enhances by adding orange and black lacquer, thus evoking bright sun and shadow on roof tiles.
