A Gondola-formed French antique sofa identified as a canape carved from Indian rosewood and rosewood veneer, with brass trim, two visible brass cubic feet and linen velvet upholstery. The rims and front of the frame are covered in veneer with a trompe l'oeil effect of basket weaving or a standard brick formation with brass trim bordering the design. The inner sofa displays several sections of upholstery secured to the frame with piping outlining all edges. The inner back has a horizontally placed section of cushioned linen velvet surrounded by two inner arm sections. In between all upholstery is the exposed rosewood of the frame. An inner bottom section with an unstable seat cushion extends past the edges of the bottom and up the inner sides a short distance. Two brass feet, equally spaced, are under the front of the piece. The photograph captures the canape in a frontal view or elevation view against a light gray wall situated on a platform of the same color showing a cast shadow beneath and to the right.

This is a Canapé Gondole. It was designed by Marcel Coard. It is dated ca. 1925. Its medium is carved indian rosewood, indian rosewood-veneered wood, brass, and linen velvet.

Decorator and designer Marcel Coard designed the gondola sofa prominently placed in Jacques Doucet’s studio in Neuilly. This canapé is the only other known version of this model. A carved basketwork motif outlining the sofa’s graceful curve adds a note of exoticism, also seen in the Pierre Legrain stool in Doucet’s studio.

It is credited Private Midwest collection.

A painted zinc, rust-colored geometric vase, with a hexagonal foot, a bulbous mid section and long, fluted sides. Small, dropet shaped pieces of silver zinc can be found on the top inner section, most likely from age.

Modern, metal frame lounge chair on a black base. The concave, arched tubular steel chair has an elongated, tan cushion. The 'I-form' base features four flat tapering legs with small circular feet. The silver tubular frame has curved ends and rests on the base. The top section of the steel frame is covered with a conforming textile. A few of the circular grommets are exposed underneath the textile, with several white tie laces visible and dangling underneath.

Vertically rectangular mahogany cabinet with small legs. At the center of the cabinet is an ivory overlay. The design features a vase with flowers coming out of it. Additionally, flowers billow up, out, and around, surrounding the vase on all sides. Ivory dots form a border outside of the design, marking the rectangular borders of the cabinet.
