Dress, Cape, And Turban

This is a Dress, cape, and turban. It was designed by Karl Lagerfeld and made for Chanel.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco as part of Contemporary Muslim Fashions.

It is dated Spring/Summer Collection 2011. Its medium is silk, net with bugle beads, glass beads, and sequins, rhinestones and metal clasps. It is a part of the department.


This dress was completely sheer when it appeared on the runway in Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2011 show. After having both pieces fully lined, Her Highness wore it to a gala dinner honoring the Emir of Qatar by the Spanish Royal Family at the Royal Palace in Madrid in 2011.

This object was previously on display as a part of the exhibition Contemporary Muslim Fashions.
