Poster, AGI- To Kyo To

This is a Poster. It was designed by Jianping He. It is dated 2007 and we acquired it in 2014. Its medium is offset lithograph on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

On the occasion of their annual conference held in Kyoto in 2006, the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) published a book entitled “To Kyo To”, featuring posters designed by 80 international AGI members. Jianping He designed the book, and created this delicately rendered poster to advertise the publication. He used a thin, free-flowing line that scribbles across the page and doubles back on itself to densely fill the space. The central textforms that make up the publication title, “To Kyo To”, are comprised of layers of concentric circles, as if the designer repeated his motions over and over with a ballpoint pen. The forms echo the punctured holes that make up the title on the cover of the publication itself.

This object was donated by Jianping He. It is credited Gift of Jianping He.

Its dimensions are

118.9 × 84.1 cm (46 13/16 × 33 1/8 in.)
