Trade Catalog, Herman Miller Inc.; Library Group Furniture

This is a Trade catalog. It was designed by Charles Eames and written by Herman Miller, Inc. and published by Herman Miller, Inc.. It is dated 1960s. Its medium is photomechanical process on paper. It is a part of the Smithsonian Libraries department.

The Cooper Hewitt library has an extensive collection of trade catalogs, and this spread of "Library Group" furniture from a Herman Miller Inc. catalog is one example. The images showcase the Eameses’ molded plywood chairs and demonstrate how innovative the designs were. The Eameses invented a new method for molding plywood (a semi-synthetic material) to design one of the most classic silhouettes of American furniture. They used typically industrial methods and materials and translated the resulting forms to both private and public settings with ease and beauty at an affordable price.

It is credited Collection of Smithsonian Institution Libraries.
