Here we have a poster with building scene portrayed through an architectural perspective and technical drawing style, using parallel diagonal lines. It includes bold text framing the whole poster and accented red, yellow, and blue. These black and white rectangular, squared, diagonal lines create buildings on a street: the buildings in the middle ground have minimal decoration save for rectangular windows and gray gradation for the walls. Set against a blue sky fading from light blue to dark are are two buildings in the background. They are taller and skyscraper-like, the central having three rows of wide windows, the other on the left being represented only by a three-dimensional rectangle, and no discerning building features except for gradient black to gray wall. On the right side of the poster is the actual foreground, showing the inside of a building's interior, as if the outer wall were cut away for the viewing. The interior cuts into two floors: the most visible floor has a chair, radiator, desk, windows, floor, ceiling, and back wall. The interior's back wall is the accented red color and runs vertically to a barely visible floor beneath. In the visible interior, the floor is the accented yellow color. The top framing text is in black and white, sans serif bold font and reads [Akademisk Arkitektforening, Bygge og Bolig]. Along the right edge is a stout word in the same font [Dstilling]. Mirrored on the left side in a bold but thinner font reads [13end til 29 en de September aaben fra 10 til 10]. The bottom text, in bold serif font reads [FORUM] and tiny, small words to the left reading [chr. cato] and to the right [IB ANDERSON].

This is a Poster. It was designed by IB Andersen and published by Chr. Cato and made for (as the client) Akademisk Arkitektforening. It is dated 1929. Its medium is lithograph on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

IB Andersen designed this poster to promote an exhibition of Buildings and Homes shortly after graduating with a degree in architecture from the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark. The exhibition was sponsored by the Akademisk Arkitektforening (Academic Association of Architects) and was held at the Forum, an exhibition space in Copenhagen. The exhibition was a significant one, and included a competition for the House of the Future, which was won by the young designer Arne Jacobsen (Danish, 1902-71). Andersens illustration nodded to two significant movements of the avant-garde with his Bauhaus-inspired cityscape punctuated by the primary color palette of the de Stijl school, which he used to evoke a sunny day. A loosely rendered Thonet armchair is the only nod to furnishings in the illustration.

A rectangular poster with a vertical orientation employing letterpress on wove paper. Beige ground color occupies the upper portion with a narrow strip on the bottom left next to a saturated navy rectangle covering the bottom right corner extending to above center. Centrally located and horizontally placed are intensely watchful eyes colored in blue tints and shades, with a beige stripe above and below matching the above ground, focussing on a vertically placed film strip of a woman, right of center, colored in tints of red-orange. The word “FILM” is diagonally positioned across the center of the poster, beginning in the lower left. “FIL” is placed overlapping the navy rectangle in a darker shade of red-orange than the “M” which peeks through on the top side of the navy rectangle on the beige ground and is vibrant red-orange. This color is also employed in the film strip and vertically placed bands supporting the stems of the letters under the “ITF” which is printed in black located mostly in the upper half near the upper right corner. The initials “ITF” stand for “Internationale Tentoonstelling op Filmgebied” printed in navy, like the rectangle in the lower half, placed above the “ITF” initials. The location information of the exhibit is located across the bottom in two rows spanning both the beige and navy ground colors. All typography employed is of a different typeface design and size. The photograph captures the front view of the poster with a white border.
