Ambivalence Double Ring

This is a Double ring. It was made by Arata Fuchi. It is dated 2015 and we acquired it in 2015. Its medium is pulverized (silver metal powder sprinkled on silver and then fixed with heat) and oxidized silver powder, sheet silver, white 18 k white gold, fine yellow gold, pearls, oxidized copper and wire twist mokmegane with 950 silver, high silver content shibuic. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Trained in Japan and Europe and inspired by nature, fuchi experiments with traditional metalwork techniques in addition to creating his own. To achieve the irregular surface in this ring's mushroom-like segment, Fuchi devised a torched pulverization technique: he sprinkled oxidized silver powder on the silver-plated form and heated it to fuse the materials, then patterned it with minute gold beads.

This object was donated by Arata Fuchi and Aaron Faber Gallery. It is credited Gift of Aaron Faber Gallery and Arata Fuchi.
