A brooch constructed of a base made from flat dark gray materials. Centrally located are approximately ten narrow bars hanging possess a design of negative space in the shape of small paralellograms perforated on a slant. The bars vary in length and are attached with a small loop to the base.The finish is semi-dull and the brooch is worn horizontally.

Cavea (23) Brooch

This is a brooch. It was designed by Melanie Isverding. It is dated 2013. Its medium is laser-cut, folded, and constructed silver elements, enamel, crushed hematite, glimmer, lacquer. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Isverding's jewelry exhibits her fascination with form, shape, and geometry. She creates repetitive spaces that are laser-cut and shaped into "pods" that hang from the brooch,filling the spaces with pulverized gemstones.

It is credited Promised gift to the Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.

White and tan dress. Laser-cut, creating a sense of hyper-precision in shapes and curves. Pattern looks lace-like, with overlapping circles throughout. Dress consists of two primary parts; the main part, which cuts off at shoulders and extends to thigh area, and shoulder pads. Main part has two curved pieces, extending outward, exposing a third center section. All sections have a lace-like quality. Shoulder pads are divided in two section; top part has lace-like quality, bottom part has more of a wicker-seat pattern.
