Mom Brooch, 2009
This is a brooch. It was designed by Ted Noten. It is dated 2009 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is nylon. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Inspired by Japanese painter Katsushika Hokusai’s work, 36 Views of Mount Fuji, Noten wanted to depict 36 different “archetypical” women in sculptures. After creating the sculptures from found objects, he had them 3D-scanned and 3D-printed as scaled-down, mass-produced pieces of jewelry.
