Louise Phillips

Little is known about Louise Phillips (1912-1955), an artist who was active in Toronto, Ontario. She illustrated book covers as well as advertisements, including those for the Breathinbra by Pliantform. According to Art for Every Home: An Illustrated Index of Associated American Artists Prints, Ceramics, and Textile Designs (Mariana Kistler Beach Museum of Art, 2016), Phillips designed textiles for Riverdale Fabrics for Youngstown Kitchens, as well as for the Signature Fabrics collection created by M. Lowenstein & Sons. There is currently one example of Phillips’ work in the museum’s collection: Textile, Pin-Ups, 1953 (1994-38-7).
