George W. Shiebler & Co.

George W. Shiebler founded his New York firm in 1876 with the acquisiion of the Coles & Reynolds concern, makers of silver spoons. Shiebler then acquired the factory of Morgan Morgans Jr. (successor to Albert Coles), the firm of John Polhamus and the flatware pattern dies of Albert Coles, Hebbard & Polhamus, A. & W. Wood, Theodore Evans & Co., and Henry Hubbard. After a few years, Shiebler consolidated his manufacturing and moved his business to Brooklyn, N.Y. where he produced those flatware patterns that he had acquired in addition to new patterns of his own, some of which he patented.
