Claude Lalanne

Claude Lalanne was a sculptor and jewelry designer who attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Ecole des Arts-Décoratifs. While studying architecture and art, she became part of the artists’ community at the Impasse Ronsin, Montparnasse in Paris which also include Brancusi, Max Ernst, Jean Tinguely, among others, including Jimmy Metcalf who trained her in the art of electro-plating, which she used throughout her career. Claude collaborated on sculptures with her husband, Francois-Xavier Lalanne (1927-2008). He would sculpt animal themes and she cast the vegetation. They exhibited all over the world. Claude was the subject of solo exhibitions into 2019, the year of her death.
