Stefano Marzano was born in Varese, Italy, in 1950, and graduated from the Milan Polytechnic Institute with a doctorate in Architecture. Marzano worked at Philips from 1973 to 2011, directing the design activities of the Major Domestic Appliances division in Italy, moving to the Netherlands in 1978, where he directed design activities for the company's Data Systems and Telecommunications Division. In 1991 he became Chief Design Officer of Philips. After leaving Philips, Marzano became the Chief Design Officer for Electolux in 2012, holding that position until he retired at the end of 2013.
