Emerging Objects | People | Collection of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum

Emerging Objects was co-founded in 2013, by Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello as an independent, creatively driven company specializing in innovative 3D-printed architecture, building components, environments, and products. With the successful development of their Potterware software, Emerging Objects recently launched The Bottery, a studio space in California for the creation of robotic ceramics. In 2018, their work was displayed in The Senses: Design Beyond Vision exhbition (April 13-October 28, 2018) at Cooper Hewitt and Rael participated in a DISEÑO program where he led a public workshop and on spoke on the work of Emerging Objects.

Casserole Dish, Furry Curry Casserole Dish

Vessel with two short, rounded legs. The bottom half of the vessel is matte and bubble-gum pink. It is shaped much like the top portion of a wine glass. The top half is bright red and flares slightly at the top. It has oval-shaped bumps, like bubble wrap. The top three-fourths of this portion is sliced so the bumps are holes. The top edge is scalloped around these oval shapes.

A decorative vase-like container two-toned with vibrant red and pink tactilely-abstract designs. The top half of the vase is red and curves upwards into a pinched opening with a flared lip. The red rubbery-plastic material swirls about the top half in woven chords resembling red vine candy. The vibrant pink bottom half of the vase is dotted with the same rubbery-plastic material in the form of tiny pegs that vary in length to form a large repeating vertical leaf-like pattern.
