The field of Engineering and Applied Sciences were part of the Lawrence Scientific School at Harvard, founded in 1847. As engineering and applied sciences became more popular, the division of Engineering and Applied Sciences became its own school in 2007. The school aims to provide students with a multidisciplinary approach to engineering and technology.
