Brought up with the Asian values of practicality and schooled in Dutch conceptual design, designer Hans Tan creates objects that efficiently communicate ideas of heritage, consumption, and materiality. Tan studied industrial design at the National University of Singapore, followed by the master’s course at the Design Academy Eindhoven. Many of his works deform familiar objects to invoke fresh perspectives on material culture.
